Empowering the Disability Sector with Consent & Protective Behaviours

From Law Enforcement to Relationship Resilience: Empowering the Disability Sector with Consent & Protective Behaviours

I used to be in Law Enforcement so have seen my fair share of relationships, thriving and on the complete opposite end of the scale 😤👩🏼‍❤️‍👨🏼🏡👶🏼💔

After I left, I wanted to continue working in a way that helped people, especially people who were more vulnerable, hence my attraction to working within the Disability Sector - I wanted to build on my policing background and teach people with disabilities protective ways of living and thriving in relationships (especially in the context of sexual relationships).

Sex education should not be a luxury afforded only to people who have the intellectual capacity to seek it out and to know 'right' from 'wring' without having to think too much about it.

I forged my way here - an expert Relationship & Intimacy Consultant for the Disability Sector.

> CONSENT can be a tricky concept —— because it’s not just about saying No ⛔️ - it’s also NOT just demonstrated in seⓧua| settings, it’s a skill that needs to be practiced outside the bedroom and basically weaved through all aspects of life and relationships.

> PROTECTIVE BEHAVIOURS - looking after yourself emotionally is key in all relationships, friendships and romantic interactions. But howwww you do it takes effort and attention to the small things… think boundaries and building resilience so when breakups happen or rejection occurs it doesn’t feel like your world is ending.

Strategies for respectful relationships are my absolute wheelhouse & this is how I can support NDIS Participants & Support Services to add extra tools in your toolkit 🧰🛠️

👩🏼‍🏫 WORKSHOPS - If your quarterly staff meeting is coming up and you want to up-skill your staff to feel more empowered when it comes to relationship convos - BOOK NOW & we can create the session you need.

🙋🏼‍♀️ SMALL GROUP TRAINING - For groups of participants who are all craving more accessible education on topics such as understanding good and great behaviours when it comes to making friends, online safety & looking after your emotional self.

🫧 1:1 DISABILITY RELATIONSHIP SUPPORT - For clients who want the personal approach, want to ask questions and respond better to the private conversations and space to process things away from peers.
